I am an Assistant Professor of Finance at Virginia Tech Pamplin College of Business

Asking why they exist and how they can be mitigated, my research focuses on the conflict of interest between a company’s management and its stakeholders. My work is centered on the board of directors’ role, the effects of regulations, and the flow of information across firms, as the primary mechanisms to reduce these agency problems. My current projects involve corporate governance, executive compensation, and information disclosure.

Before joining academia, I worked for two years in the Ministry of Economics of Chile, designing and executing microeconomic policies to improve the conditions for entrepreneurship and innovation.
